At 1300 the mission of both, Task Force Richardson an Task Force Hogan was changed. Task Force Hogan was ordered to clear Köthen immediately, and the send a force west to meet Task Force Richardson. When the two Task Forces met, Task Force Hogan was to occupy both Köthen and Frenz. Task Force Richardson was to pull back and occupy defensive positions in the vicinity of the cross road east of Plömnitz and an the Cross Road just north of Bebitz. From the latter point a strong battle group was to be sent north to Bernburg, see what was there, and if possible, occupy and secure it. At 1615 Task Force Richardson and Task Force Hogan met in the western part of Köthen, and Task Force Richardson started to its assigned objective. They reached Bebitz without opposition. The Battle Group sent north ran into sniper fire at Unterpeissen, and had to start house-cleaning again. Progress was slow, and at 2030, the Commending Officer, Combat Command, directed the tank force to button up where they were, and be prepared to continue at 0600.

Um 1300 wurde der Auftrag der Task Force Richardson und der Task Force Hogan geändert. Task Force Hogan wurde befohlen, Köthen sofort zu räumen und eine Truppe nach Westen zu schicken, um auf Task Force Richardson zu treffen. Als die beiden Task Forces aufeinander trafen, sollte Task Force Hogan sowohl Köthen als auch Frenz besetzen. Task Force Richardson sollte sich zurückziehen und Verteidigungspositionen in der Nähe der Querstraße östlich von Plömnitz und an der Querstraße nördlich von Bebitz einnehmen. Vom letztgenannten Punkt aus sollte eine starke Kampfgruppe in Richtung Norden nach Bernburg geschickt werden, um zu sehen, was sich dort befand, und um es, wenn möglich, zu besetzen und zu sichern. Um 16.15 Uhr trafen sich Task Force Richardson und Task Force Hogan im westlichen Teil von Köthen, und Task Force Richardson machte sich auf den Weg zu dem ihr zugewiesenen Ziel. Sie erreichten Bebitz ohne Widerstand. Die nach Norden entsandte Battle Group geriet bei Unterpeissen unter Scharfschützenfeuer und musste erneut mit dem Hausputz beginnen. Sie kam nur langsam voran, und um 20:30 Uhr wies der kommandierende Offizier, das Combat Command, die Panzertruppe an, dort, wo sie sich befand, die Knöpfe zu schließen und sich darauf vorzubereiten, um 6:00 Uhr weiterzumachen.
