The 113th Cavalry Group, Mechanized, was attached to the 83d Infantry Division on 3 April 1945, for the drive from Paderborn to the Elbe.
The Group operated in advance of the Division to the Weser River (crossed on 7 April 1945) and then protected the right flank of the Division and XIX Corps, along the general line Einbeck -- northern edge of Harz Mountains -- Bernburg to the Elbe. (contd.)
