Ju 88 Production
Informant heard from a reliable source that in August, 1943, the production of Ju 88‘s mounted to 430 aircraft per month a total which included bomber, reconnaissance and fighter versions. Bernburg acts as the pilot Ausschuss for this type, the Bernburg plant being fed, as is already well-known, by the fuselage factory at Aschersleben, the wing factory at Halberstadt and other specialized plants. In August, 1943, this complex required 14,500 man hours to manufacture a complete Ju 88, the figures being calculated as described above. At this date the Bernburg factory itself was assembling both the night- fighters and the bomber Ju88's and the rate of production was aoout 145 aircraft per month; and there were two assembly lines, each producing one aircraft every three hours. Informant estimated that the Henschel fac- tory at Schonefeld was producing about 80 Ju 88's per month and when he last visited the plant in June 1943, he noticed that the conveyor had been built so that Ju 188 aircraft could be handled without any modification.

Der Informant erfuhr aus zuverlässiger Quelle, dass im August 1943 die Produktion von Ju 88 auf 430 Flugzeuge pro Monat anstieg, die Bomber-, Aufklärungs- und Jagdversionen umfassten. Bernburg fungiert als Pilotausschuss für diesen Typ, wobei das Bernburger Werk, wie bereits bekannt, vom Rumpfwerk in Aschersleben, dem Flügelwerk in Halberstadt und anderen spezialisierten Werken gespeist wird. Im August 1943 benötigte dieser Komplex 14.500 Arbeitsstunden für die Herstellung einer kompletten Ju 88, wobei die Zahlen wie oben beschrieben berechnet wurden. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt wurden im Bernburger Werk selbst sowohl die Nachtjäger als auch die Bomber Ju 88 zusammengebaut, und die Produktionsrate lag bei etwa 145 Flugzeugen pro Monat; es gab zwei Montagelinien, von denen jede alle drei Stunden ein Flugzeug produzierte. Der Informant schätzte, dass das Henschel-Werk in Schönefeld etwa 80 Ju 88 pro Monat herstellte, und als er das Werk zuletzt im Juni 1943 besuchte, stellte er fest, dass das Förderband so gebaut worden war, dass Ju 188-Flugzeuge ohne jegliche Modifikation abgefertigt werden konnten.

Ju 188 Production.
The Ju 188 was ready to go into series production early in 1943 and when in May, 1943, informant on a tour or Aschersleben, Halberstadt and Bernburg he noticed that some Ju 188 s were already being manufactured. During a subsequent visit to the same factories in July, 1943, he noticed that the proportion had increased and that it then amounted to approximately 10% of the total production, i.e., the assembly of roughly 15 aircraft per month. At both the component factories and the assembly plant the Ju 188‘s were being put through in between and mixed up with the Ju- 88‘s. The conveyer belts were not slowed down and the extra work entailed was undertaken by the reserve of workers who normally stand by in the assembly line to assist any slow workers. As mentioned above informant noticed that the conveyer belts at the Heinkel factory at Schonefeld had been erected with a view to the eventual change over of this plant to Ju 188 production.

Ju 188 Produktion.
Die Ju 188 war Anfang 1943 serienreif, und als der Informant im Mai 1943 Aschersleben, Halberstadt und Bernburg besuchte, stellte er fest, dass bereits einige Ju 188 hergestellt wurden. Bei einem weiteren Besuch in denselben Fabriken im Juli 1943 stellte er fest, dass der Anteil gestiegen war und nun etwa 10 % der Gesamtproduktion betrug, d. h. die Montage von etwa 15 Flugzeugen pro Monat. Sowohl in den Zulieferbetrieben als auch im Montagewerk wurden die Ju 188 zwischendurch durchgeschleust und mit den Ju 88 vermischt. Die Fließbänder wurden nicht verlangsamt, und die damit verbundene zusätzliche Arbeit wurde von der Reserve von Arbeitern übernommen, die normalerweise am Fließband bereitstanden, um langsame Arbeiter zu unterstützen. Wie bereits erwähnt, bemerkte der Informant, dass die Förderbänder im Heinkel-Werk in Schönefeld im Hinblick auf die spätere Umstellung dieses Werks auf die Produktion der Ju 188 errichtet worden waren.
